About the Foundation
Amir Khusro (1253–1325), a disciple of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, was one of the most influential cultural figures of the Indian subcontinent. Renowned for his contributions to poetry, music, and literature, he played a pivotal role in shaping Hindustani classical traditions and symbolized the harmonious synthesis of diverse cultural influences. His legacy continues to inspire generations through its emphasis on creativity, spirituality, and cultural harmony.
Amir Khusro Foundation is a public charitable trust registered in New Delhi, committed to the preservation and promotion of Indian classical arts and Sufi cultural traditions. Drawing inspiration from the life and legacy of Amir Khusro, the Foundation works to uphold the spirit of India’s composite and inclusive cultural heritage.
Through thoughtfully curated cultural programmes, performances, seminars, and publications, the Foundation provides a platform for artists, scholars, and cultural practitioners to engage with tradition in meaningful and contemporary ways. It actively supports emerging and established talent while encouraging dialogue that fosters social harmony, national integration, and mutual respect.
